Native Highlight: PhillyFoodies Drops Her Go-To Places In Philadelphia

Native Highlight: Philly Foodies

It's not too often you get to sit down with such an incredible person that saw an opportunity, took it, and ran with it. We were fortunate enough to talk with Mollie Dronson, the genius behind the Instagram food account Philly Foodies (@phillyfoodies). In 3 short years, she took @PhillyFoodies from casually taking pictures of meals to reaching 72K loyal followers. She accomplished this by providing authentic pictures of restaurants that you can trust.

The Inspiration Behind The Account

It was around the time when I was seeing a lot of NYC food Instagrams come about, but there weren’t really any in Philly yet. I snagged the handle @phillyfoodies, and the rest is history!

Mollie personally saw how helpful Instagram posts were for figuring out where to go in NYC and decided to help others in Philly the same way. If there is one thing the world can agree on, it's that Philly has a top notch food scene. She became hooked by realizing how much Philly has to offer. She claims that no matter how much she explores, her list of places to visit just keeps on growing!

Favorite Part Of Philly Foodies?

My favorite opportunity that I’ve been presented with since starting @phillyfoodies was being able to attend the Made In America festival on behalf of Godiva in order to promote their new desserts at their food truck that was at the festival.

@PhillyFoodies knows how to keep busy. Between the new menu tastings, working with local and national brands, or attending influencer events, she is doing everything she can to connect you to the mouthwatering dishes that make the Philly food scene one of the best in the world.

We aren't sure when she sleeps, but we're not complaining either because her posts have been the inspiration for quite a few visits to some awesome restaurants (like her favorite ones below). Not gonna lie though, we're pretty jealous that she was able to attend Made In America promoting the new desserts that Godiva thought up!

Why You Need To Follow @PhillyFoodies Right This Second

Mollie made a point to mention that she posts only original content from herself or photos from close family and friends. This is pretty incredible since she sometimes posts 3 times in a day! You can trust what is shown on her instagram since most of the food she tried herself. What you see in her posts is what you get when you go to the restaurant.

It was awesome to see that with all the success she has, she still has genuine appreciation for every single one of her followers and the sponsors that support her!

Pro Tip: The BEST grilled cheese in the city, and honestly some of the best ice cream I've ever had too. Get their Grilled Cheeseburger, their take on a cheeseburger grilled cheese. It's a special, off-the-menu item and was only promoted on Instagram.

Pro Tip: The most amazing sushi I've ever had in my life. Make sure you have a reservation; it's super small in there, and you don't want to miss out. Order the Pingu roll - crispy cream cheese & chive roll, spicy red crab salad, and potato crunch. My all-time favorite!

3) Barcelona Wine Bar

Pro Tip Most people think of dinner when they hear 'tapas', but their tapas-style brunch is literally one of the best brunches I've ever had. It's a great place to go with a group of people and order one of everything to share!

4) The Continental Midtown

Pro Tip: When people ask what my favorite restaurant is, this is always my answer. I am a huge fan of Stephen Starr restaurants; the aesthetics and menus are so unique and never disappoint. This is also one of my favorite places to bring visitors from out of town. There is always something for everyone, since they put a modern twist on classic dishes...i.e. cheesesteak eggrolls.
