Where to grab cheap-ish outdoor drinks around Fairmount

The weather is warm which means it's time to transition to drinking outdoors. We're not sure why, but grabbing a drink with friends is so much better when it's outside.

We teamed up with our Philly Drink Scene Natives to give you a list of some of the best places to grab cheap-ish drinks outdoors around Fairmount.

Cheap outdoor drinking around Fairmount

Bishop's Collar

2349 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

Great neighborhood bar between the Eastern State Penitentiary and the Museum of Art. If you are looking for a change up from the other bars on Fairmount Ave (Urban Saloon and Jack's Firehouse), the Bishop's collar has a lively crew and they throw a bunch of tables outside to down some drinks outdoors.

What you need to know:

Besides serving some great food, Fare has plenty of open seating for filling up some glasses full of reds or whites. They have a large lounge area attached that offers some great people watching and comfy couches.

Brews and Views at the Free Library of Philly

3320 Haverford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19104

What you need to know:

Philly Native @brendencoleman33 says it's great for happy hour, "Just a heads up, this place is only open on Thursdays in the summer. Yes, I know it's a library, but... they have a low key awesome beer garden series that runs end of April through the summer. It has some solid views of the city and Logan Square. The 5 - 9pm happy hour makes it a hot spot for a Thursday happy hour."

This spot is currently open, but only runs on Thursday. It's on top of the library which sounds like a strange place to have a rooftop beer garden, but hey, we aren't complaining.

The Belgian Cafe

601 N 21st St, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

They specialize in... you guessed it... Belgian beer. They have a ton of different options to choose from and line the outside of the place with tables so you'll have plenty of room to enjoy a beer outside. Fair warning: they have some pretty bizarre paintings, but that can add to the excitement.

If you find yourself there on a Monday, they run a solid Quizzo operation. Vegan friendly.

London Grill

2301 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

If you are looking for a classic neighborhood bar, this is it. Like many other places on Fairmount Ave, they toss a bunch of tables out when it get's warm.

They have make-your-own mimosas and a bloody mary bar, so this is probably a great place to drink around the hours of 11am to 1pm.

Bonus: Not into the bloody mary's? The owners also opened up Paris Wine Bar that is attached to the London Grill.

Kite & Key

1836 Callowhill St, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

Located couple blocks above Logan Square, this is a solid neighborhood bar that is great with large groups. When it's warm, they swing open their front doors and have some large tables outside. This is definitely a place you want to grab some food at also.

Bar Hygge

1720 Fairmount Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

Bar Hygge, (say 'huu-guh'), is an interesting name, but it means "taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day things more meaningful". It's a Danish word, but they actually are more of a new/contemporary American kind of place. That's besides the point though.

They do live up to creating a chill atmosphere where you can order stiff cocktails while lounging on some comfy couches.

The Black Taxi

745-747, N 25th St, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

Although there isn't a ton of tables outside, this is tucked away in Fairmount so it isn't crazy busy. This is the definition of a neighborhood bar so if that's the vibes you're looking for, the Black Taxi is your spot. They are also very dog friendly.

They are all about meeting up friends and neighbors so you'll immediately feel welcomed when you walk in the door - especially if you're into watching soccer - and of course any Philly sports teams.
