7 coffee shops great for meeting up with friends around Fairmount

There is a huge trend in Philly where coffee shops are transforming into destinations instead of just places to get caffeinated. They are becoming a place where you can catch up with friends or knock out some work. Fairmount has some pretty awesome options.

We listed a few of our favorite coffee shops in and around Fairmount to meet up with friends.

Fairmount coffee shops to meet up

OCF Coffee Fairmount

2100 Fairmount Ave Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

We already mentioned that OCF had a welcoming atmosphere. Owned by a real estate company, this is a massive coffee shop with a wide open atmosphere. The have plenty of room inside with tables that fit two or long tables that can fit a whole crew. As if they didn't already have enough room, they also let you take that latte outside to a bunch of tables they have set up there.

It's right across from the Eastern State Penitentiary and within walking distance to the Art Museum and of course the Rocky Stairs so if you have friends visiting, they can check all the tourist boxes off...

Allegro Coffee Company

2101 Pennsylvania Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19130

What you need to know:

Started in Colorado, this location is actually located inside of the Whole Foods, but takes up basically the whole front - they also have a location in Center City. There are plenty of spots inside and even more outside to grab a cup with friends. Plus, if you haven't been inside this Whole Foods, well, it's basically it's own city in there.

What you need to know:

It's a great neighborhood coffee shop with plenty of room for a small group. They are a little pricey so just a fair warning.

Funny little fact here: they actually started by selling coffee out of a custom made tricycle. They should definitely bring that back.

Cosmic Cafe

1 Boathouse Row, Philadelphia, PA 19130

Located right on Boathouse Row, this is the perfect spot to meet friend before walking the Schuykil River Trail or heading to Wissahickon Park. They are more of a cafe than an actual coffee shop, but they still offer anything from a latte to a Red Eye. They also serve breakfast all day for those late risers.

Oh and you'll see plenty of pups hanging out there. Check out their website here.

High Point Cafe

602 Carpenter Ln, Philadelphia, PA 19119

What you need to know:

This spot replaced Mugshots Coffeehouse which left it with some big shoes to fill. They not only serve coffee, but also crepes which is a huge plus. It definitely has a neighborhood feel where the moment you walk in, you'll feel welcome.
